Iran, Tajikistan unite against drug trafficking

TEHRAN, Sep. 07 (MNA) – Islamic Republic of Iran and Tajikistan will sign a treaty to cooperate in fighting drug trafficking.

Iran’s Interior Minister and General Secretary of Iran's Drug Control Headquarters Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli will attend Shanghai Summit in Tajikistan to meet his Tajik counterpart and Tajikistani Drug Control Agency head as well as Tajik president to sign an agreement to fight drug trafficking.

Two countries aim at boosting cooperation for operational information exchange for recognition of drug bands in the region and exchange of experiences in regard to drug abuse control and for addicts’ rehabilitation.

Linguistic, religious and historical commonalities between the nations can help the two countries to cooperate on different fields.

Afghanistan drug plantation and trafficking have affects on both countries and requires both to fight drug traffickers.
